The name ChatGPT refers to the product; GPT is the model family name. In current documentation, Astra is introduced for difficult tasks, Sol for complex tasks with lower cost, Terra for writing and visual work, and Luna for specific tasks.
Before Choosing
First, determine the environment: Chat conversation, task execution in Work, programming with Codex, or product building with the API. According to the official guide, GPT-6.1 Sol and Terra are Work/Codex options and their access should not be generalized to all Chat conversations.
Try one of your real tasks with both options; compare accuracy, response time, and usage volume. Paying for a subscription does not mean receiving unlimited API credit.
