Forget Jason Statham, the Best Action Movie of the Last 30 Years Is Back on Netflix

Harrison Ford spent decades making wildly implausible heroes feel like ordinary guys having a terrible day. An archaeologist outrunning a giant boulder? Sure. A space smuggler taking on an evil empire? Absolutely. In Air Force One , he pulls off something that now feels considerably more farfetched: an American president you’d trust with your life.

Intel shifts production capacity from consumer to server CPUs in face of 'unprecedented' AI demand — company navigating 'one of the most significant supply shortages in history'

Although the consumer PC market is shrinking and will continue to shrink in the coming quarters, Intel is confident that the overwhelming demand from the AI industry for everything that can compute or store data will offset declines in the client space. To that end, the company is reallocating some of its capacity from client to data center CPUs, expanding its Fab 24 in Ireland to make more Xeons, has begun…

Google Deepmind creates a global map of forests with satellite data and AI

Google Deepmind and the World Resources Institute have released ForTy, a global map that classifies forests and other land into six categories, including primary forest, plantations, and tree crops. The map could help track deforestation under EU rules, but it identifies only about half of planted forests and tree-crop areas, and 60% of plantations. The article Google Deepmind creates a global map of forests with…

Think you can save the Hubble Space Telescope? NASA wants to know.

The Hubble Space Telescope still shines in the eyes of astronomers after 36 years in orbit, but it is not as nimble as it once was. Left alone, the observatory will plunge back into the atmosphere in the early-to-mid-2030s, closing the book on one of the most famous scientific instruments of the century. NASA last raised the orbit of Hubble in 2002, when the Space Shuttle Columbia visited the observatory for a…

Data centers could send US climate pollution skyrocketing

The US power sector could release 42 percent more planet-heating carbon dioxide pollution by 2030 than it did in 2025 as it builds out more fossil fuel infrastructure to meet data center electricity demand, according to a new analysis by the Sierra Club . That would essentially wipe out 15 years of greenhouse gas reductions. CO2 emissions from electricity generation would increase by 618 million tons by the end of…
