Samsung’s Privacy Display may be coming to more Galaxy phones – what we know

Privacy Display on the Galaxy S26 Ultra was a big hit in our hands-on. Now, we may see it roll out to more Galaxy phones.
ZDNET’s key takeaways
- More Galaxy handsets are getting Samsung’s Privacy Display technology.
- The Galaxy S27 and S27+ will not be included in the feature update.
- Both the S27 Pro and S27 Ultra are reportedly getting brighter screens and bigger batteries.
Samsung introduced its Privacy Display technology earlier this year to help users keep everything from text messages and work chats to photo rolls and video streams safe from prying eyes. The privacy feature uses what the company calls Flex Magic Pixel to focus the LED light onto the center of each tiny individual lens; this prevents light bleed from the sides and severely narrows viewing angles to help hide what’s on your screen.

Now, Samsung is reportedly planning to expand this feature outside of its Ultra smartphone lineup.
More from ZDNET
Not only is the feature coming to the next generation of Galaxy S Series smartphones, but the S27 Pro and Ultra will also get an upgraded version of Privacy Display, with exact changes yet to be revealed. However, if you’re sticking with the more midrange and entry-level S27 and S27 Plus, those models will be left behind by the update.
Other rumored tweaks
Other rumored tweaks to the S27 lineup include a 200MP primary rear camera, a 50MP ultrawide, and a 16MP selfie cam. The S27 Ultra is also expected to include a third rear camera lens — a 50MP telephoto with 5x optical zoom for snapping those tricky long shots of the Moon or wildlife.
A reliable Samsung Galaxy tipster, Ice Universe, shared images on X of cases for the entire Galaxy S27 lineup, showing very different camera lens configurations among the S27/S27 Plus and S27 Pro/Ultra models and that the S27 Pro would be somewhat chunkier than its siblings.

Forbes also reported earlier this year that the Galaxy S27 Pro and S27 Ultra will get big battery boosts as well, with 5,200mAh and 5,800mAh silicon-carbon batteries, respectively. The silicon-carbon technology is an upgraded version of a traditional lithium-ion unit; the chief difference is that the aforementioned silicon-carbon anode replaces the pure graphite from previous battery versions.
The silicon-carbon blend can absorb more lithium ions that graphite can, which means the new batteries will be able to store more energy — extending lab-tested and real-world battery life.
