GTA 6 is only two weeks away from its release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and Rockstar Games decided to mark the occasion by sharing a new gallery of 39 screenshots that almost look like a flex for the developer, as the stunning attention to detail they show is unprecedented among current-generation games.

The 40 new screenshots provide a great look at the new entry in the series, focusing not only on the protagonists, Jason and Lucia, but also on a wide range of NPCs, vehicles, locations, and more. Taking a deeper look at these screenshots reveals the insane level of detail the game is going for.

For example, in the screenshot featuring Jason driving his car, it's impossible not to notice the level of detail in the hair on his arms and the incredible lighting. NPCs seem to have received a similar attention to detail, as they each have some unique trait that almost makes them feel as much like main characters as Jason and Lucia. The environments in GTA 6 also look as detailed as anything else we have seen in video games to date, surpassing the already stunning locations Rockstar Games created for Red Dead Redemption 2.

What makes these screenshots even more impressive is how they represent how GTA 6 will look on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. As such, we can only wonder how the game will look on PC when it reportedly launches sometime next year. A recent NVIDIA DLSS 5 experiment provided a glimpse into this future, but still, it will be very interesting to see how much the new entry in the series will raise the bar for visual fidelity in open-world games when it will no longer be constrained by the capable but aging current-generation console hardware.
